Jon to Microsoft, Peter to Salesforce.com
Where have all the great tech journalists gone? They’ve gone to vendors, every one.
First, last month, InfoWorld’s Jon Udell went to work for Microsoft. See his auto-interview about the new job. He’ll be working as an evangelist on MSDN’s Channel 9. This is a savvy move by Microsoft, and I’m sure it’s good for Jon. It’s a bummer for InfoWorld, of course.
And now, Peter Coffee (pictured), arguably both the tallest and wisest technology pundit in the business, has left eWeek to work for Salesforce.com as director of platform research. Wow. Salesforce shoots, Salesforce scores. Good for Peter; he’ll be fantastic there. eWeek is significantly lessened by his departure.

Thanks for the gracious farewell. I see a real inflection point here in the way that developers think about how they’ll create value and bring their work to market, and I hope to share it with people — but not by making a sales pitch in Alan’s living room, so to speak. Thanks, Peter — though you’re welcome to make a presentation in my living room any time. -Alan Z
