And they say print is dead…

I’m delighted that despite all predictions to the contrary, print publications are doing just great. The June 1, 2007, issue of SD Times is the biggest in our seven-year history. The 60-page issue has more articles, and more advertisements, than ever before.

This issue includes the 5th annual SD Times 100, as well as three cover stories, on how Sun is challenging Silverlight with JavaFX; how VMware adds the ability to replay crashes; and how the future of software will embrace both services and collaboration. There’s also special report on taking a disciplined approach to healthy software.

It’s a great issue, with outstanding articles. Tons to read. If you’re a subscriber to our print edition, watch your mailbox. If you don’t subscribe, you can read the articles at our Web site, or download a 5.1MB PDF of the entire issue.

In the funny coincidence department, the special report in this issue of SD Times uses a very similar image to the cover art for the June 2007 issue of another BZ Media publication, Software Test & Performance: Both show flexible female athletes bending over backwards. (The ST&P cover line is “Limber up your team with agile methods.”)

I’d like to recognize the tremendous efforts by all the editorial, ad sales and production teams of both magazines for their great work this month, with special kudos to the art directors: Mara Leonardi on SD Times, LuAnn Palazzo on ST&P, and Erin Broadhurst on both publications (she worked on the SD Times 100 “Bam! Pow!” artwork).
